Employability Skills Program

‘Real employment and learning outcomes’.

Winslow supports community development through a collaborative social planning approach. Our social improvement strategy is aimed at engaging people who have an interest in civil construction yet encounter barriers to employment in this industry.

What type of training is offered?

Winslow offers pre-accredited, introductory civil construction labourer training courses. These courses are delivered in partnership with local community and education centres who also deliver job ready training, language, literacy and numeracy training.

The outcome is:

  • Construction ready employable candidates
  • Participants are certified and hold construction induction white cards

Who should apply?

Our focus is on training people who are local to the area which is being developed. We partner with local Job Victoria Employment Services agencies to engage participants seeking employment in the local area.

The Results

To date we have delivered three successful pre-employment hubs – two currently in close location to the Big Build works – Olivine Estate in the North of Melbourne and one at Sunbury in the North West.

We have established an Adult, Community and Further Education Board (ACFE) approved Employability's skills curriculum that can be shared and delivered easily by other ACFE funded learn locals

The curriculum was co-designed by Winslow and is specifically built to ensure trainees are “boots on the ground” ready to start in construction or construction related roles

Case Study – Olivine

Winslow worked with PRACE who we partnered with to develop the curriculum and to prepare this course content for wider delivery. With support from the Adult Community & Further Education board, this content is now approved for use across all Learn Local providers in Victoria, so we continue our involvement with the communities where we work and create opportunities to support the local community.
